The Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD) stopped by the Red Cross Dallas office and helped produce nearly 500 children comfort kits which included crayons and coloring books.

When families lose their homes due to a natural or man-made disaster, there are children who lose everything as well. The children comfort kits provided by the Red Cross not only have the basics (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel, comb, lotion, etc.), but they also include crayons and a coloring book. The goal is to create a sense of normalcy when a child sits down and takes out their own crayons and coloring book and finds a creative outlet.
The amazing students participating in this service learning project have enabled our organization to be prepared the next time a disaster strikes. The children comfort kits they created typically last for approximately a year freeing up our logistics team to focus on other critical needs for those impacted by a disaster.
