While the Red Cross shelter at the First Christian Church, 2109 W. Hwy 377 in Granbury, Texas was slated to close today, the American Red Cross and local emergency management officials have decided to keep the shelter open through Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. Even though there aren’t any shelter residents at this time, this is a proactive step to ensure that we haven’t missed anyone who needs a safe place to stay or needs supplies because of the flooding. Red Cross will also extend casework services at the First Christian Church beginning on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. through Friday at 5:00 p.m. Residents of Hood and Parker counties can come to the Red Cross location for shelter, supplies and casework services.

In total, Red Cross damage assessment teams have determined that 140 homes across both counties have sustained major damage or have been destroyed. Anyone who can’t stay in their home because of damage is urged to contact the American Red Cross at 817-335-9137.
