After torrential rains fell across the southern part of the Metroplex yesterday, some at the rate of 3″ per hour, the American Red Cross opened a shelter in Granbury, Texas last night. Horseshoe Bend, Texas, an area that has flooded multiple times in the past year, has flooded once again prompting the Red Cross to open a shelter in Parker County today. Anyone flooded from their home in or around these areas can come to the shelters. Those who have been impacted, but do not need of a place to sleep can stop by to take showers and get supplies and information.

Today, weather permitting, Red Cross teams will make their way to the impacted neighborhoods to begin a damage assessment. Given that more rain is expected throughout the week, Red Cross workers are monitoring areas in Parker, Johnson and Wise counties in case anyone needs a safe place to stay. It is unknown at this time if any Texans will need shelter, but as always, the Red Cross makes the service available in times of disaster.
