Red Cross Response Plans for December 28

This message from Anita Foster, PIO, American Red Cross:

Red Cross teams continue to manage two shelters for families affected by the damaging tornado outbreak on Sunday. Last night, 48 people spent the night at the shelters in Garland and Rowlett.

SHELTERS:
Garland: Gale Fields Recreation Center, 1701 Dairy Road, Garland
Rowlett: Steadham Elementary School, 6200 Danridge Rd, Rowlett

The shelter in Midlothian at Longbranch Elementary School, 6631 FM 1387, has transitioned to a respite center.

Today, the American Red Cross will fan out across Ellis, Dallas and Collin counties to distribute clean-up supplies such as tarps, shovels, rakes, work gloves, trash bags and more to help families begin to salvage what they can.

Disaster victims who need Red Cross services should call 1-800-RED-CROSS. People wanting to volunteer should seek information from city and county websites in the affected areas. Red Cross volunteer opportunities are always available at http://www.redcross.org.

The best way to help the American Red Cross is through a financial donation which allows the organization to be ready before emergencies, and to respond afterwards. Donations can be made online at http://www.redcross.org or by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10.
